Great Home and Garden Improvement Tips

Hi! My name is Gary and this is my home and garden improvement blog. My passion for working on my home and garden began when I bought my first house. It was a run down little place in the suburbs of Sydney. Even though the place was in a bit of a state, it was in a fantastic location. I spent many hours reading up on DIY and gardening tips before setting about improving the place. It was a lot of hard work but it was also a lot of fun. I learnt a lot during that time so I decided to start this blog.

Tree Trimming: Why and When?

by admin

If you have trees or bushes on your property, it is important that you keep them well trimmed. You can do some of this work easily yourself, using a pair of pruning shears. For larger trees and higher branches, it is a better idea to have a professional tree trimmer come onto your property and do the work for you. They have the expertise and equipment to get the job done properly and safely.

Why Do Trees Need to Be Trimmed?

Tree trimming should be a regular part of your property maintenance. There are several reasons why this needs to be done, including:

  • Safety – If there are branches that are damaged, they could fall and injure you or someone else or your property. Trimming these branches will avoid injuries and damage to property.
  • Tree Life – The more you take care of your trees and shrubbery, the healthier they are going to be and the longer you will be able to enjoy them. Removing dead branches helps to keep the trees strong and free of diseases and helps them to grow straight and tall.
  • Appearance – Trees and bushes look better when they are healthy and free of dead or rotting branches. Fruit-bearing trees will blossom more and will provide more fruit, both of which are attractive on any property.

When Should You Trim Trees?

There is no specific timetable for trimming your trees. Many people tend to do it annually in the spring to help their trees and bushes get fuller in the summer months. But, there are likely to be other times when tree trimming will be necessary, such as:

  • Storms – If a storm has caused a limb to break, it could lead to a number of problems. It could fall and injure someone. Or it could fall on power lines. If the latter is the case, you will need to contact your local hydro utility to remove the branch.
  • Visibility – When branches grow too long, they can end up sticking out into the road. This is going to be an obstruction to drivers, as it can reduce their visibility.
  • Property Damage – If there is a large tree limb that is rotting and hanging over your property, when it falls, it could end up going through your windows or even your roof. Tree trimming will prevent these types of accidents from happening.

If you have any large branches that need to be trimmed, contact your local tree trimming service, like Arborforce, to take care of it so you don't have to worry about any of the problems that can be caused by falling limbs.
